Agriculture Day
Today is Farmer's Day. And how does the farmer do in the Shemitá year? By Torah tradition, every 7th year in Israel, the land goes through a year of rest, or an agricultural sabbatical. During this period, according to religious law, a farmer in Israel may not sow, plow, plant or harvest; nor may he perform any task that implements the soil. It is a year of rest from agricultural work. And how do they do it? They eat less and plan better.
